Dr. Rod Ferry was raised on a cattle ranch in northeastern California (Modoc County).  He has had an interest in animals and their welfare since his childhood days. After completing high school in 1979, Rod attended Hartnell Community College where he split time between undergraduate studies and College Rodeo. In 1980 he married his wife Jessie. After Hartnell Rod transferred to the University of California at Davis where he continued to Rodeo and completed a BS in Animal Science. He then entered the College of Veterinary Medicine at UCD where he graduated with his DVM degree in 1988. Upon graduation Rod began work at Lakeview Animal Hospital in Lakeview, Oregon. During High School, College, and his early days as a veterinarian Rod continued to raise cattle and hay. Then as the veterinary business and Rod’s kids began to grow he sold his ranch and cattle to concentrate on these other aspects. Rod has coached baseball and wrestling at both the kid’s and high school levels and has coached softball at the kid’s level, as well as helping out individuals with rodeo. Rod and Jessie raised three kid’s Ryle is the oldest boy and Justin and Kelsey are twins. The kids are now out of high school and beginning to find their place in the world. Currently Rod dedicates most of his time to the business but still finds time to coach and help kids when possible. Rod serves as the president of Lakeview Animal Hospital and splits his time between veterinary work and management duties.
